This past week, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) hosted the 50th anniversary of National Small Business Week.
This designated week was proclaimed by President John F. Kennedy back in 1963, and has been held annually to recognize and highlight some of America’s 28 million small businesses.
SBA events took place in 5 cities across the country, offering a common ground experience and appreciation for entrepreneurs and business owners. Today, the SBA will hold national award ceremonies in Washington, D.C., to announce the 2013 National Small Business Person of the Year.
The SBA has also bestowed the following honors this week: Entrepreneurial Development Awards, Federal Procurement Awards, National Small Business Champion Awards and State Small Business Persons of the Year Awards.
