It is with great excitement that we feature Drew Smith, our Marketing Manager in this month’s employee spotlight as he celebrates his 10-year anniversary with the company. Drew has been a pivotal figure for this company, bringing his extensive experience and expertise to the table. Drew manages the company’s marketing and social media efforts, having been a part of the company’s explosive growth since he joined. He has been responsible for overseeing the company’s branding and social media image through white papers, articles, email blasts and effective utilization of Hubspot and other marketing tools. This includes the launching and rebranding of our wholesale company, cyber and cannabis divisions and the recent company rebrand.
The Professional Journey
Drew's journey is a testament to the power of dedication and hard work. He began his career with Axis in May of 2014, shortly after graduating from the University of North Florida. However, he has been a part of this company in spirit since day one, when he was helped with smaller tasks as the company began. His degree in History and International studies gave him the training in research, writing and seeing different perspectives so he could write different topics.
As part of his role at the company, Drew focuses on industry events, articles, collateral, and social media to develop marketing strategies. He also conducts research and writes timely articles for the company's newsletters and social media sites. This research-driven approach has helped the company grow exponentially.
Moreover, Drew's impact can be seen in the company's Kudos culture, which refers to a work environment where employees are recognized and appreciated for their hard work and contributions. Drew's efforts have further enhanced the company's image and growth.
Drew recently participated in Dale Carnegie leadership training to help enhance his skills in organization, leadership, and presentations.
Shortly before he joined the company officially, he participated in a summer camp for those with Autistic related disorders for two years, once as a counselor in training, once as a junior councilor, helping many kids through engagement, enrichment and being friends to them.
Drew had this to say about his time with the company. “Having seen this company from when it was just me, Mike Smith, and our dog in a small room to being one of the industry leaders, it is nothing short of amazing how far we have come. From economic downturns to pandemics, I have seen it all and I hope to continue to foster this growth for a long time to come.”

The Personal Side
In his spare time, Drew is an avid Philadelphia sports fan along with a NASCAR fan, having been to more races and ball games than he can count and is a long-time gamer, having grown up with video games for most of his life. Before attending college, he was an avid bowler, having spent 12 years as a league and high school bowler, even attending state tournaments. He also enjoys traveling and history, having travelled to Europe twice as a student ambassador and having visited many historical sites on the East coast. He participates in many charities, such as Autism Speaks, PLUS, Underground Railroad, Shatterproof and others. Also it is a common sight to see him handing out food to the needy at CUMAC.
In conclusion, Drew's journey, his role in the company's growth, and his personal interests are a fascinating blend of dedication, expertise, and passion.
